We’re unashamedly sentimental types here at the BeerCast, particularly when it comes to celebrating an anniversary*. Recently we managed to acquire a bottle of India Pale Ale 100 (10.1%) – the centenary release from London’s Kernel brewery. Since appearing on the beer scene in early 2010 (has it really only been that long?), Evin O’Riordain […]

Long name, long story. For those of you outwith the range of the culinary-tentacled beast that is BBC’s MasterChef, it’s essentially the X-Factor of cooking. There are several series, staged concurrently so they never overlap – one for celebrities, one for young chefs, and one for Joe Public. The most recent series was the latter […]

On the panel today – Richard, Stuart, MrB and Grooben. Richard would like to take this opportunity to apologise to MrB’s mother…

2. Magic Rock High Wire (5.5%)
3. Marble Chocolate Marble (5.5%)
4. Magic Rock Cannonball (7.4%)

Utopian dream

Just over a year ago a certain Scottish brewer released the final iteration of what had become an inevitable, and somewhat tiresome, brewing arms race. The desire to produce stronger and stronger beer served to garner a lot of publicity for BrewDog (and erstwhile rivals Schorschbräu), and was all pretty predictable. Like a beery equivalent […]

BrewDog certainly like to blow their own trumpet – my goodness do they ever – but if you can filter out the punk-nonsense they have a number of interesting ideas. Having one eye keenly focused over the Atlantic at all times (understandable given the styles of beer they create), they have latched on to a […]
