‘What fellating God must taste like’
Beer fans are no strangers to hyperbole – particularly the dedicated masses that record their thoughts on ratings websites. As regular BeerCast readers might be aware, every so often I join in with a RateBeer tasting group hosted by Edinburgh tickmeister Craig Garvie. Usually we gravitate (pun intended) towards the stronger or rarer brews, as […]
BeerCast #39 – Bières du Quebec Part 2
BeerCast #39 – Bières du Quebec Part 2 – CraigAS returns with second batch of beers from French-speaking Canada. Following on from the last podcast, we taste more Quebecois beers, from Scotch ales to a seriously hefty coffee infused imperial stout. As with podcast 38, the panel consists of CraigAS, Grooben, Shovels and Richard – big thanks to Craig for bringing the beers all the way back from Montreal.

BeerCast #38 – Bières du Quebec Part 1
BeerCast #38 – Bières du Quebec Part 1. BeerCaster CraigAS recently returned to the UK after living in Montreal for several years. Home to a thriving beer scene, Quebec has some really inventive brewers – and thanks to Craig we managed to sample a few. In fact he brought so many over we had to split the podcast into two parts. Grooben, Shovels and Richard join CraigAS for francophone fun – please be warned this podcast contains some truly awful French.

2. Dieu du Ciel Route des Épices (5.5%)
3. L’Alchimiste La Bock de Joliette (6.1%)

Montreal Beer Festival: 28 May – 1 June 2008 No this isn’t part two of a two-part report for which I have forgotten to submit the first installment. I headlined last year’s report “Sacre Bleu!” and just couldn’t resist employing the Hot Shots reference. Far from being Part Deux, this is in fact my third […]
By the bonny, bonny banks of the St. Lawrence…
BeerCaster MrB marches dans la pub L’Isle Noire Named after a Tintin book in which our hero travels to Scotland in search of a legendary ape (no, I am not making this up), l’Ile Noire is a “Scottish” pub in the heart of Montreal. If you’re lucky (or unlucky depending on your point of view), […]
Granville Island Fun
Hello again all… After the rip-roaring success of my last post, here’s a follow-up on our local microbrewery. The Granville Island Brewing Company was founded in 1984 by a gentleman named Mitch Taylor, making it Canada’s first microbrewery. Originally based on Granville Island in Vancouver, the main hub of operations has now moved to Kelowna, […]
