‘Beer from the Coast’ is the slogan of the Adnams brewery, based in the picturesque Suffolk seaside town of Southwold. Last week a case of their newest brew found it’s way up to the Midlothian coast for us to sample on the BeerCast (well, we’re a few miles from an estuary here). East Green is […]

BeerCast #15 – Scottish IPA’s. We’re back reviewing beers from our home soil for the fifteenth BeerCast, as we take a look at four Scottish India Pale Ales. The British gave this style to the world, and we see how modern breweries north of the border are taking it to heart. On the panel today – Richard, Shovels, Grooben and MrB.

1. Caledonian Deuchars IPA (4.4%)
2. Colonsay IPA (3.9%)
3. Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA (5.3%)
4. BrewDog Hardcore IPA (9.0%)

The world’s biggest beer festival is running at the moment, up and down the UK (until the 14th of April). How they quantify that, I don’t know, but the good folks at JD Wetherspoon are having a celebration of real ale that even the BeerCast felt compelled to attend. I say ‘even the BeerCast’ because […]

BeerCast #14 – London Beers. Once home to a thriving brewing scene, London has seen a decline in brewing over recent years. But there are still some who operate in (or near) the city. On this BeerCast we sample four ales from the British capital, in the company of Richard, Shovels and Grooben.

1. Young’s Special London Ale (6.4%)
2. Fullers London Porter (5.4%)
3. Meantime Chocolate Stout (6.5%)
4. Fullers Jack Frost (4.5%)
