BrewDog Avery Brown Dredge
Reviewing a beer brewed by other beer writers is a new one for us here on the BeerCast – and something of a minefield too. Not that we’re putting ourselves in the category of the three chaps responsible for BrewDog’s Avery Brown Dredge (7.5%) – the multi award-winning trio have the pageviews and Wikio rankings […]
BeerCast #61 – Beer of Yesteryear
BeerCast #61 – Beer of Yesteryear. As modern brewers seek to experiment, historic styles of ale are definitely making a comeback. Inspired by an article in the Guardian newspaper written by blogger Mark Dredge, today we sample four archaic old-fashioned ales. Moving from Elizabethan times to ancient Turkey (Bill&Ted style), we also make a stop in Celtic Britain, and pay a visit to the Vikings. 1. Daleside Morocco Ale (5.5%)
2. Dogfish Head Midas Touch (9.0%)
3. Heather Ales Alba (7.5%)
4. Thornbridge Bracia (10.0%)

Here comes the sun…
The arrival of tailbacks on the roads and wasps in the parks can mean only one thing – Spring is here. After enduring months of snow, sleet, winds and haar (something we say every year, only this time it actually happened) the weather is taking a turn for the better. Here in Scotland that means […]
Go WEST?
WEST are Scotland’s only German-themed brewhouse, and have been based in the old Templeton carpet factory on Glasgow Green for exactly five years – their anniversary falling last Thursday. By a strange co-incidence it was on that very day I paid my first visit to the extravagantly-crennellated warehouse that sits a few minutes stroll from […]
