Red Squirrel Edinburgh opens
Edinburgh’s Lothian Road has seen a fair bit of shuffling over recent months, as new arrivals try to pull the reputation of the street upwards. One of the busiest thoroughfares in the city, the clubs, strip clubs and ‘saunas’ – plus the heavy traffic and occasional roadworks – give it something of a dodgy reputation. […]
The Moulin Inn
The unseasonal weather has continued for Scotland recently, with temperatures soaring into the high teens from the wall to wall sunshine. As a result, a trip to the beautiful interior of the country was called for, and a visit to Perthshire. Stunning scenery, old castles, red squirrels (apparently, although they may as well not exist) […]
Alcohol free Hoegaarden?
Brewing behemoth AB-InBev have been in the news a fair bit recently – probably understandable given they control 25% of the world’s beer (in terms of market share). At the end of last month they purchased Goose Island for a shade under $39m, dipping a gold-encrusted toe in the formerly unsullied craft beer waters. At […]
BeerCast #60 – Purity Showcase
BeerCast #60 – Purity Showcase. The award-winning Purity Brewing Company from Warwickshire sent us some review samples for a podcast – so we turn the airwaves over to another Brewery Showcase. As they make only three beers (which is fairly unusual for a modern producer these days), we throw in a bonus fourth beer from London’s Kernel Brewery – their monumental Imperial Stout. On the panel today – Richard, Grooben and Shovels. Big thanks to Kirsten at Purity for sending the review samples through!
1. Purity Pure Gold (4.3%)
2. Purity Mad Goose (4.2%)
3. Purity Pure UBU (4.5%)
4. Kernel Imperial Stout (12.5%)

Here comes the sun…
The arrival of tailbacks on the roads and wasps in the parks can mean only one thing – Spring is here. After enduring months of snow, sleet, winds and haar (something we say every year, only this time it actually happened) the weather is taking a turn for the better. Here in Scotland that means […]
RateBeer Roundup III
Another month, another colossal tick-taste at RateBeer king Craig Garvie’s. Every few weeks Craig assembles a list of beers that would have any self-respecting beer fan salivating with anticipation, and as many people as possible turn up to share the goodies. As with the others (which you can read about here), I headed down with […]
