So, what’s happening in the Edinburgh beer scene over the next seven days?
Meet the Brewer – Thornbridge [7:30pm]
The Hanging Bat, 133 Lothian Rd
Further Information / Tickets £25 Available here
The first day of advent reveals something pretty special behind the first small cardboard window – an entire beer board of Thornbridge beers, at the Hanging Bat. Their latest Meet the Brewer will see the Derbyshire producers heading up to Edinburgh with a huge range of amazing beer, including Hallowed Ground – an 8.5% Imperial Blackberry Porter brewed at Thornbridge Hall by the Hanging Bat team for their third birthday. Amazingly, there are still tickets available – so check the link above for the beer list, and the second link for tickets!
Later in the week, another set of brewers will be pitching up at a nearby pub – the Blue Blazer on Spittal Street. The team from Stewart Brewing will be unveiling some of their new branding and serving up a range of their latest beers, including the Hop Series’ Black IPA, Cascadian East and Radical Road, plus seasonals Saison des Pluies and Cauld Reekie – and bottles of their fantastic new barrel aged Elysium will also be available!
Rounding off the week, on Saturday Dalry/Comely Bank’s finest are hosting their fifth annual portfolio ‘super-tasting’, the afternoon will showcase plenty of the grape-based products – but also a lot of beer. Several Scottish brewers will be in attendance, showing their bottled ranges – including Campervan, Top Out and Colonsay. What better way to spend a dark December afternoon, and pick out your Christmas drinks…
The Edinburgh Beer Weekly will be published every Sunday here on the BeerCast. If you have an event in or around the city that you’d like to feature – please get in touch at the usual email address. Cheers!
