So – back after the Christmas/New Year break, what’s happening in the Edinburgh beer scene over the next seven days?

Thursday 15th 7:30pm
Pilot Beer Tap Takeover

On Thursday, Leith’s premier beermaking comedy double act will be taking over the taps at the Southern Bar in Newington. On offer, their core range and a few interesting one-offs, and there will be a raffle throughout the evening for Pilot prizes. Head on down to try some of the most interesting beers being made in the city at the moment.

Thursday 15th [to Sunday 18th]
Blind Tasting Event at the Red Squirrel
Red Squirrel, 21 Lothian Road
Red Squirrel Twitter

Starting on Thursday and continuing to the weekend, Lothian Road’s Red Squirrel are running an event that might appeal to many. They are running a blind tasting event, serving unmarked beer from their taps. Presumably along the same lines of the popular blind tastings run at the Bow Bar, keep an eye on the Red Squirrel’s twitter feed for more information throughout the start of the week, but it will revolve around guessing the styles of certain beers, and will also – if you do well – prizes.

Friday 16th 6:00pm
Colorado Clash at BrewDog Edinburgh
BrewDog Edinburgh, The Cowgate.
Further Information

To round out the week, BrewDog Edinburgh are unleashing some fresh-off-the-boat Coloradan beer. They are having a mini tap-takeover from the twin US giants of Great Divide and Oskar Blues. So if you’re a fan of Hercules, Titan IPA, Ten Fidy, Gubna and the like – Friday is a rare chance to try them on draught as opposed to the normal bottles and/or cans…

The Edinburgh Beer Weekly will be published every Sunday here on the BeerCast. If you have an event in or around the city that you’d like to feature – please get in touch at the usual email address. Cheers!
