So – what’s happening in the Edinburgh beer scene over the next seven days?
Monday 10th 8:00pm
Beer and Cheese at Appellation
Appellation Wines, 43 Dalry Road
Appellation Wines website tickets £10
Beer and cheese is the classic food pairing (with the exception of dry roasted or a packet of crisps), and last year Appellation ran an evening matching Scottish beers with everyone’s favourite dessert course. Well, on Monday, cheese pairing returns to Appellation, except this time they’ve gone global (for both the beer and the cheese). Head down to Dalry and see what new classic combos Ash and the staff have come up with.
Thursday 13th [to Sunday 16th]
Loch Lomond Showcase
The Guildford Arms, 1 West Register St
Loch Lomond Twitter feed
Starting this Thursday (and continuing all weekend) – the Guildford Arms will be featuring beers from the Loch Lomond Brewery, one of the most under-rated cask ale brewers in the country (well, until this week, when they won two medals at the SIBA awards). On the bar – 60/-, Bonnie & Bitter, Southern Summit and Simcoe Hop Trial. The beers will all be on at £2.50 a pint, so get there early!
Thursday 13th 7:00pm
Meet the Brewer – Stewart Brewing
David Macbeth Moir, Bridge St, Musselburgh
Website
Also on Thursday, the David Macbeth Moir will be hosting the beers of Stewart Brewing. As well as having the beers on offer, the brewers will be in attendance – so head down to Bridge Street in Musselburgh and ask them first-hand what really goes on out at Loanhead.
The Edinburgh Beer Weekly will be published every Sunday here on the BeerCast. If you have an event in or around the city that you’d like to feature – please get in touch at the usual email address. Cheers!
