Thursday 6th 8:00pm
Six Styles of German Beer
Appellation Wines, 43 Dalry Road
Appellation Wines website tickets £10
German beers are the focus of this week’s Appellation tasting, taking place at the Dalry branch on Thursday night. The team will be discussing – and leading tastings on – six different types of teutonic mastery – pils, helles, weizenbocks and more.
Thursday 6th
Meet the Brewer – Brass Castle
The Southern, 22 South Clerk St
Further Info / Brass Castle Twitter feed Tickets £5
Also on Thursday, there’s a chance to meet one of Yorkshire’s most under-rated breweries. Brass Castle are in town with their wares, and will be taking over the Southern Bar for two tutored tasting sessions of six of their beers. They brew some seriously good stuff – particularly their 6.4% Belgian blonde, aka Yorkshire’s Duvel. Tickets are £5, and to get hold of one, contact the Southern directly, or email nicky@fullerthomson.com.
The Edinburgh Beer Weekly will be published every Sunday here on the BeerCast. If you have an event in or around the city that you’d like to feature – please get in touch at the usual email address. Cheers!

November 2, 2014Just outside the city, the superb Staggs (aka Volunteer Arms) pub in Musselburgh will be having its annual beer festival on Sunday 9 November. There’s always a terrific range of ales (please note that only ale, wine and soft drinks are served and that I have no connection with the pub other than as a satisfied customer). Cheers.
