Craft Beer Rising comes to Glasgow

It’s been a loosely-kept secret, but yesterday it was formally announced that Craft Beer Rising is set to move north from its native London soil, and will be held at Glasgow’s Drygate Brewing Co in the third weekend of September. Over the course of three days, the four sessions will encompass up to 200 beers from 45 local, national and international breweries. This is yet another great addition to the Glasgow beer scene, following swiftly (at the time of writing) on the back of the Glasgow Real Ale Festival; is the sleeping giant of #GlasgowBeer starting to fully awake, in Commonwealth year?

The Craft Beer Rising festival will begin on Friday the 19th of September, the day after the Scottish Independence Referendum vote (cue plenty of jokes about English breweries requiring passports, etc). Those cross-border travellers named at the moment include Beavertown, Siren, and Harbour – but having been to the previous CBR in London’s Truman Brewery, plenty of other English notables will be in attendance, I’m sure. The great thing about the festival being in Scotland, though, is the chance for our home-grown beermakers to get their wares into more eager hands.

Tickets are on sale now, here, from £20 (a price which includes a glass and £5 of beer tokens). As well as the beer, the event will include live music, the pre-requisite street food, and brewing demonstrations throughout the weekend. If you’re into all-encompassing craft beer festivals, CBR Glasgow comes about a month before Manchester’s IndyMan, so it slots pretty easily into the calendar, in that regard…

Craft Beer Rising Sessions will all be held at Glasgow’s Drygate Brewery, (85 Drygate G4 0UT).
Running times are as follows:

Friday 19th September 2014: 7pm – 12pm, tickets £20
Saturday 20th September 2014: 11am – 5pm, tickets £20
Saturday 20th September 2014: 6pm – 12pm, tickets £20
Sunday 21st September 2014: 11am – 6pm, £20

    Hi Rich…

Any idea who’s programming the music for CBR? I wouldn’t mind getting The Banjo Lounge 4 involved (after our recent Fynefest success the last two years) as it’s going to be so close to Edinburgh…

And if you don’t have music programming contact then any contact would be helpful (I’ve already emailed Drygate but I imagine CBR are the best people to approach)…

    Cheers

I didn’t actually mention the specifics of the music, Pat – apologies for that. It looks to have been already sorted, but the details of the curator are below if you want to get in touch

In keeping with Craft Beer Rising’s signature party-style atmosphere, Kiltr will be curating the festival’s music line-up that includes pioneering electro funk DJ, Greig Wilson, as its headline act.
