Monday 16th 8:00pm
Santa’s Pit-Stop Picks at Appellation
Appellation Wines, 43 Dalry Road
Appellation Wines website tickets £10

Old Father Christmas gets around a bit, as we all know – so he must be well-versed in global beer. But as you as familiar with it as he is? Head along to Appellation Wines Dalry branch on Monday and taste your way through six beers from six different countries. Discover your favourite, and what Santa himself might like for you to leave him on his rounds, instead of a glass of tepid milk.

Tuesday 17th 8:00pm
Winter Warmers at Appellation CB
Appellation Wines, 43 Dalry Road
Appellation Wines website tickets £10

The very next night after the Dalry Road tasting, on Tuesday Appellation are at it again, this time with a selection of the perfect winter warmers for this time of year. Beauty is said to come from within, but so does that warming glow of alcohol. Head along for some treats from Belgium and beyond, guaranteed to give you a festive boost.

Wednesday 18th
Meet the Brewer – Hawkshead 7:30pm
The Hanging Bat, 133 Lothian Rd
Further Information Tickets £20 (Purchase here).

The Hanging Bat’s final meet the brewer of 2013 is with the modern marvels of Hawkshead. From their quite fantastic base in Cumbria they have been putting out some wonderful beers for a long, long while – and it’s about time they had the spotlight to themselves here in Edinburgh to show off. On Wednesday, seven cask and eight keg beers will be on offer, including an unfiltered version of their Lakeland lager, and a three-year-old cask of Brodies Reserve. It should be quite a night on Lothian Road.

Saturday 21st
Darkest Day tap takeover
BrewDog Edinburgh, The Cowgate.
BrewDog Edinburgh Twitter feed.

Finally, round the weekend off at BrewDog, as the team there celebrate the winter solstice by turning their taps over entirely to dark beer. Is there a more fitting way to spend the shortest day than to squirrel yourself into the depths of the Cowgate and knock back a few stouts, porters and black IPA’s? Check out their Twitter feed nearer the time for the beer list, but get ready to bundle up and scurry along to the bar, preparing for those ‘Well, the days are getting longer’ comments…

The Edinburgh Beer Weekly will be published every Sunday here on the BeerCast. If you have an event in or around the city that you’d like to feature – please get in touch at the usual email address. Cheers!
