Tuesday 15th
Meet the Brewer – Stewart Brewing (part 1) [7:00pm]
Doctors Bar, 32 Forrest Rd
Taylor Walker website
Following a quiet first week of the year, we’re back with ale-based events across the city. On Tuesday, 2013’s year of beer kicks off with a Meet the Brewer session at Doctor’s on Forrest Road. Stewart Brewing’s newest mash-hound Matt will be on hand to answer questions and talk about their beers, several of which will be on the bar. Head down to find out what Matt has to say and/or to try the following beers – Pentland IPA, Edinburgh Gold, Zymic, Stewart’s 80/-, 1759 and a special, one-off, cask of unfined Holyrood.
Tuesday 15th
Organic Beer meets Slow Food
Iglu, 2b Jamaica St
Facebook Event page
Also on Tuesday, a meeting of culinary minds takes place at Iglu, as Black Isle bring their organic beer to pair with the restaurant’s new a la carte menu (which embraces the philosophy of slow food). Lewis and Richard will be on hand to discuss the finer points of Black Isle’s brewing – and for a decidedly agreeable £14 you can listen to them whilst enjoying a starter, main course and beer of your choice.
Friday 18th
Meet the Brewer – Stewart Brewing (part 2) [7:00pm]
The Blue Blazer, 2 Spittal St
Stewart Brewing website
Keen to get the message out there – and with a bouncing new brewery on the way, you’d expect nothing less – Stewart Brewing are MTB’ing again on Friday. Their oldest mash-hound Iain will be on hand to answer questions and talk about their beers, several of which will be on the bar. Head down to find out what Iain has to say and/or to try the beers, which this time will consist of Pentland IPA, Zymic, Stewart’s 80/-, 1759 (which is Stewart’s Burns-themed January beer) and a special, one-off, cask of unfined Embra.
The Edinburgh Beer Weekly will be published every Sunday here on the BeerCast. If you have an event in or around the city that you’d like to feature – please get in touch at the usual email address. Cheers!
