So – what’s happening in the Edinburgh beer scene over the next seven days?
Monday 10th 8pm
Six beers for Christmas Day
Appellation Wines, 43 Dalry Road
Appellation Wines website tickets £10
Christmas day isn’t just for cheap fizz, Tesco wine and Famous Grouse – you can also drink beer, and great beer, on the special day. But what to choose? Head down to Appellation Wines on Monday as Dalry’s Secret Santa Ash takes you through six different beers that would be fantastic when drunk on Christmas Day. Expect aperitifs, digestifs, and massive-abv hop bombs to get you through the Queen’s speech.
Tuesday 11th
Night of Good Beer
The Bow Bar, 80 West Bow
Further details
On Tuesday, the Bow Bar is hosting another of their semi-regular ‘Good Beer Nights’. No fuss, no frills, just the following beers – Arbor Ales Weisbier, Brigstow Bitter, Yakima Valley IPA, Black Isle Scotch Ale, Tyne Bank Chocolate Orange Stout, Great Heck Yakima IPA, Moor Dark Alliance, Magic Rock Curious, Stringers Furness Abbey, Buxton Imperial Black and Tempest’s Wee Unforgiven and Long White Cloud. Holy moly.
Wednesday 12th
BeerCast Christmas drinks!
The Stockbridge Tap, 2-6 Raeburn Place
Event poster
On Wednesday, we’re having our annual BeerCast Christmas night out. But, rather than having the usual version (a round of shandy and home by 9pm) we decided to throw the event open to all! So, on Wednesday, join us at the Stockbridge Tap for a night of great beer (unless the Bow has a trademark on that phrase). Tap supremo Archie has assembled a fantastic lineup, including a brand new beer from Alechemy, and a ‘surprise cask’. We even commissioned a poster from Adelaide’s finest, Benjamin ‘clipart’ Bullen (see link above). If you’re free on Wednesday, come down to the tap and have a beer with us.
The Edinburgh Beer Weekly will be published every Sunday here on the BeerCast. If you have an event in or around the city that you’d like to feature – please get in touch at the usual email address. Cheers!
