So – what’s happening in the Edinburgh beer scene over the next seven days?

Tuesday 18th
Meet the Brewer – Magic Rock
The Hanging Bat, 133 Lothian Rd
Further Information tickets £20 email Jamie@TheHangingBat.com

By now, you will probably be fully aware of the Hanging Bat – Lothian Road’s newest beer bar. Other than serving a huge amount of beer, the Bat will also be hosting a series of Meet the Brewer events – the first one being with the Summer Wine Brewery last month. I wasn’t there, but apparently half of Edinburgh was – so for this week’s second MTB the event has been closely ticketed. Unless cancellations have come in, all the tickets have gone – but, you can still head down to the bar and try all of the beers on offer (and maybe eavesdrop on the talk). The brewer in question is Magic Rock – one of the most exciting in the entire UK at the moment. Richard Burhouse will be here, and so will six of his cask beers and six keg. Not bad for a Tuesday night…

Wednesday 19th 7:00pm
Elixir Brewing Company launch Minception
Cloisters Bar, 26 Brougham St
Further details

Possibly the final beer launch of 2012 happens on Wednesday, when Elixir Brewing Company will (fittingly) be releasing their ‘deconstructed mince pie in a glass’ into the world. Only one pin of Minception exists – and at Cloisters Bar, on Wednseday, it will be. The last time they had a single pin of something, it was Benedictine Groove and it sold out in 55 minutes. However, also on hand to fill out the evening will be casks of Conviction IPA and Elixir’s other new offering – the unstoppable force of Minception infused with naga chillies – yes, the infamous Mincendiary Device.

The Edinburgh Beer Weekly will be published every Sunday here on the BeerCast. If you have an event in or around the city that you’d like to feature – please get in touch at the usual email address. We’ll be taking a break from EBW duties over Christmas, but we’ll return in the new year – 2013 is shaping up to be a classic for Scottish beer, and the Edinburgh drinking scene. Cheers!
