So – what’s happening in the Edinburgh beer scene over the next seven days?

Monday 10th 8:00pm
Norwegian Beer Tasting
Appellation Wines, 43 Dalry Road
Appellation Wines website, tickets £7

Head down to Appellation Wines on Monday night for the latest in their series of tastings – which this time will revolve around Norwegian beers. Expect plenty of barnstormers from the likes of Nøgne Ø and Haandbryggeriet – unpronounceable they may be, but both produce some fantastic beers – many of which are new to the UK market. As ever, tickets are £7 and available on the night from the shop.

Wednesday 12th 7:00pm
San Diego Scotch Ale launch
BrewDog Edinburgh, The Cowgate
Further details (BrewDog website)

BrewDog have been plenty busy with the Stateside collaborations of late – hot on the heels of the International Arms Race with Flying Dog, this Wednesday they launch San Diego Scotch Ale at their Cowgate bar. The result of a brewing exchange with Ballast Point – who make arguably the best IPA in America – the beer released this week is an 11.9% Imperial Scotch Ale aged in barrels with rum-soaked raisins (provided by Ballast Point). Also at the launch will be BrewDog’s new White IPA…

Thursday 13th [to Sunday 16th]
Septembeerfest
The Radical Road, 229 Willowbrae Rd
Radical Road Twitter feed

On Thursday, the third annual Septembeerfest kicks off at the Radical Road in Duddingston. A selection of real ales will be on – as you’d expect – along with food and live music. It may be slightly off the beaten track for city-centre types, but there’s plenty going on over the end of the week to get people along – and the food comes highly recommended.

Thursday 13th [to Sunday 23rd-ish]
Stockbridge Tap Beer Festival
The Stockbridge Tap, 2-6 Raeburn Place
Twitter feed / Facebook page

The other city beer festival that begins on Thursday is at the Stockbridge Tap, and it runs for around ten days (or, essentially, until all of the casks are gone). Landlord Archie has assembled a frighteningly good beer list – which you can see in full as part of our preview we wrote last week. Very much something for everyone, the opening night in particular should be spectacular – see you there!

Friday 14th [to Wednesday 19th]
Stewart Brewing beer festival
David Macbeth Moir, Bridge St, Musselburgh
Website

The David Macbeth Moir is one of the newer Wetherspoon’s in East Lothian, having opened in February of this year. It’s named after one of the famous sons of the ‘honest toun’ – a 19th Century physician and writer. From Friday onwards, four of the Spoons’ handpulls will be devoted to Stewart Brewing’s beers, at the typically reasonable £1.95 a pint. Dig out those old vouchers and get down for some good, cheap, beer.

The Edinburgh Beer Weekly will be published every Sunday here on the BeerCast. If you have an event in or around the city that you’d like to feature – please get in touch at the usual email address. Cheers!

An Edinburgh question. Is Charlie McMaster still around?
