So – what’s happening in the Edinburgh beer scene over the next seven days?

Tuesday 5th 8:00pm
Meet the Brewer – Williams Brothers
Holyrood 9A, Holyrood Rd
Event website

There’s been plenty going on up in Alloa recently, as Williams Brothers release a flurry of new beers – seemingly on a weekly basis. On Tuesday, brewer Jamie Carmichael and sales juggernaut Chris Mair will be holding court at the Holyrood 9A. Head down to quiz them about what’s on the horizon for WB, and try the new beers in person. Rumours of whisky-aged Nollaig, Alba and Fraoch are rife, along with plenty of more sessionable beers – not to mention the very rare unfiltered Ceilidh lager. Be sure and ask Jamie how his peanut butter and jelly beer is progressing, as well.

Wednesday 6th 7:00pm
Buxton Tap Takeover
The Stockbridge Tap, 2-6 Raeburn Place

Ask beer people who are in the know – or us, if they aren’t available – and we’ll all tell you that the Buxton brewery are really ones to watch. With ex-Thornbridge man James Kemp putting out the beers, 2011 was something of a break-out year for Buxton – their re-branded range of strong, hoppy pale ales and IPA’s was really well received across the blogs. Of course, don’t listen to blogs – try them for yourself! On Wednesday the Stockbridge Tap will be hosting a Buxton takeover, with six of their beers on offer – the first time any of their beers has appeared on cask in Scotland.

The Edinburgh Beer Weekly will be published every Sunday here on the BeerCast. If you have an event in or around the city that you’d like to feature – please get in touch at the usual email address. Cheers!
